Utility back and Sevens ace Ed Stubbs will fly out to join the Western Force on their two-match Super Rugby South African leg.
The 24-year-old replaces wing Patrick Dellit, who has returned home after sustaining multiple facial fractures and an ankle injury against the Melbourne Rebels.
Dellit will not recover in time after arriving in Port Elizabeth in the lead-up to the side’s match against the Southern Kings on Saturday.
Dellit is expected to be available for the Reds match in Brisbane in Round Five.
“This is obviously disappointing for Paddy and the team,” Western Force head coach Michael Foley said. “Paddy’s form throughout the trials and against the Rebels has been very good. He has led both on and off the field with his standards and effort.”
“It is important we get him back to Perth and begin his rehabilitation with the Reds game in mind.
“Paddy’s absence provides both Nick [Cummins] and Ed [Stubbs] the opportunity to come into the team and squad respectively.
“Both players have prepared well and have international experience through Sevens and Wallaby programs that will serve them well in our next two matches”
The Force will face the Kings at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday before travelling to front the Bulls in Pretoria next Saturday.
