Sheridan wants the glory, not money

England prop Andrew Sheridan has shunned a lucrative insurance payout in order to keep his playing career alive.

The 31-year-old pulled out of the World Cup after England's opening game against Argentina and was forced to undergo surgery on a shoulder ligament.

This is the fourth time in four years that the loosehead has gone under the knife, and it could well have spelled the end of his playing career.

However, Sheridan is more determined than ever to keep on going and has no intention of retiring just yet even if he misses out on the insurance money.

"Obviously the insurance is pretty good, but that's not what I'm about," he told the Manchester Evening News.

"Getting back and playing is what it's about."
