Leinster scrumhalf Isaac Boss was ruled out of Ireland's rugby tour of New Zealand on Tuesday because he couldn't recover in time from a thigh injury.
A space was left open for Boss, but with the touring party leaving for New Zealand on Thursday, he ran out of time.
Coach Declan Kidney also left room last week for a prop, lock and loose forward, and intended to finalise his squad on Wednesday, after Ireland met the Barbarians on Tuesday in Gloucester.
However, lock Paul O'Connell will be given until Friday to prove his fitness following a knee injury, and whether he can join the tour. O'Connell captained Ireland in the Six Nations in the absence of the injured Brian O'Driscoll.
Boss was the second player to miss the tour, after Ulster flank Stephen Ferris hurt his calf in the Heineken Cup final 10 days ago.
Ireland plays the first of three Tests against the All Blacks on June 9 in Auckland.
