Mauro Bergamasco: May feature against Wales next weekend.

Italy have called veteran flanker Mauro Bergamasco into their squad for next Saturday's Six Nations match at home to Wales.

Bergamasco, 33, has been capped on 93 occasions, but Jacques Brunel left him out of the squad for the opening two matches, a 23-18 win at home to France and a 34-10 loss to Scotland at Murrayfield.

However, he has now been added to the Italy squad as cover for captain Sergio Parisse, who may be suspended.

Parisse is facing a possible ban after he was sent off for allegedly insulting the referee while playing for Stade Francais against Bordeaux on Saturday, although he has declared his innocence.

This year's Six Nations tournament was the first for many years which Italy started without either of the Bergamasco brothers, because centre Mirco Bergamasco is currently injured.
