Jackson: Wants the No.10 jersey

Scotland, who have arrived in New Zealand after their training camp on Australia's Gold Coast, will tackle the Mighty Oaks on Saturday.

And with a clash with Georgia following on Wednesday, the proximity of the games means head coach Andy Robinson is likely to utilise almost the entirety of his squad in the two matches.

Scotland will then face Argentina on September 25 game and England on October 1 - and Jackson is keen to throw down an early marker for the No.10 shirt to rival Dan Parks.

Jackson said: "There's a very short turnaround between the two games.

"I've got no idea what Robbo's thinking about that but I presume there are going to be a number of changes for each game.

"Hopefully if I get my chance then I'll grab it."

Glasgow Warriors ace Jackson won the last of his eight caps as a replacement for Parks during the 23-12 World Cup warm-up win over Italy.

Until that clash the Azzurri, Jackson had started four straight Tests after succeeding Parks as Scotland's leading playmaker during the RBS Six Nations.

And although Parks has the experience, having won 62 caps, Jackson is determined to keep his rival at bay.

He added: "Last season I put myself in a good position to try and get that No.10 jersey.

"Parksy's going to put up a bit of a fight and he played very well against Italy - he's put down a bit of a marker.

"I've no idea what's going to happen for the first game, but once I get my chance I'm hopefully going to play well enough to take it."
