Rob Harley: Says Scotland cannot afford to lose their discipline in Paris

Rob Harley says Scotland will suffer another defeat in Paris on Saturday unless they improve their discipline.

The Scots conceded 16 penalties in last weekend's loss to Wales and were punished by Leigh Halfpenny, who kicked 23 points.

Glasgow flanker Harley insists Scotland are capable of registering a rare win over France, but says they must combine a strong defensive display with the attacking style that saw them score six tries in their opening two Six Nations games.

He said: "We have come a long way. Some of the things we have been doing, we haven't done before.

"The tightness of the squad helps and some of the rugby we have played and tries we have scored, the pressure we have put on teams has shown great progress.

"It is up to us to acknowledge what we have done wrong and build on the positives so we can keep getting better as a squad."

Scotland fell foul of referee Craig Joubert during the 28-18 home defeat to Wales, the South African official constantly penalising their scrum which neutered their set-piece effectiveness.

Harley said: "(The scrum) is an integral part of rugby and it's disappointing that we didn't to see it more often.

"But we have got to look at ourselves and eliminate anything that is causing us problems. We will go back and look at our processes and try to get better.

"It's a game of inches and getting the tiny things right is the difference."
