NYRC Move to 3-0

NYRC went into the match knowing they couldn't be complacent against a Morris team that has improved during its time in Division 1. The A-side ran out winners vs Morris in a sloppy match and move to 3-0 going into the bye week.

NYRC came out fired up and it seemed like they were going to run through their phases all match. However, after putting in some early tries they made hard work of it, committing many errors and sloppy mistakes.

The back row, with Man of the Match flanker Patrick Holman to the fore, and scrumhalf CJ Cortalano had especially influential games. Center Sean Leahy earned co-Man of the Match honors for snuffing out any Morris attacks through the backs. Tries came from No. 8 Trevor Cassidy, prop John O'Brien, and wing Maurice Diong with one conversion from flyhalf Badger Denehy.

The B-side also continued their unbeaten run. After a fairly even first 20 minutes it was NYRC all the way with tries from Man of the Match lock Chris O'Leary, No. 8 Tad DeBarros in his NYRC debut, scrumhalf Willie Dominguez (2), flyhalf debutant and co-Man of the Match Evan Rose, wing Mark Grey, reserve flanker Michael Chacon-Teran and two from reseve wing Mikal Mendizabal. Center Mike Halsey added a conversion.

It's a bye week next week but NYRC take on MetNY D1 co-leaders Monmouth, despite their slip-up vs White Plains, in the idyllic rugby locale of Thompson Park NJ on the 15th.
