The venues for the 2012 Emirates Airline USA Rugby Men’s and Women’s Club Sevens and All-Star Sevens National Championships have been confirmed.
Club Sevens will be held at Treasure Island in San Francisco, Calif., the home of San Francisco Golden Gate on August 4-5, 2012. Sixteen men’s teams and 12 women’s teams are set to take part.
All-Star Sevens will be held at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. on August 17-19. Eight men’s and eight women’s teams will compete for an All-Star national title.
Talent identifiers will scour the two competitions trying to find athletes that will help the USA find success not only in the robust annual international tournament fixtures, but in important quadrennial tournaments like the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
The All-Star tournament will last two days and on the third day, USA Rugby National Team coaches will invite a select group of athletes who have played their way onto the Eagles radar at the tournament to take part in a scrimmage and training sessions.
