In the final week of the 2012 RSL regular season, NYAC extended a 33-12 halftime lead into a convincing 52-19 win against the Dallas Harlequins in the first game of the day. The two later games had Old Blue holding off Boston 33-29 and OPSB defeating SFGG 19-12.

Showing no sign of slowing down in advance of their home game against Life University in the RSL semifinal next week, NYAC jumped out to a solid halftime lead of 33-12, doing most of the scoring before Dallas notched a try near the end of the half. The second half was a closer affair, with the teams exchanging tries early. NYAC kept the pressure up, responding to the often effective pick-n-go of the Harlequins, and added another try midway through the half before closing the game out with a final five pointer.

NYAC finishes with a perfect 8-0 record, with bonus points in every game. NYAC will host Life University in the first semi final next week. Life finished with a 6-2 record and will have another shot at NYAC with the prize of an RSL final appearance on the line.

In Boston, Old Blue jumped out to a twenty one point lead and looked in danger of running away with the game, the Old Blue backs taking advantage of turnovers to score three tries. But Boston fought back and scored three tries late in the first half to make the halftime score finely balanced at 21-19.

The second half was very similar to the first, as Old Blue again took advantage of a few Boston miscues to score a couple of tries. And again Boston came back, first hitting a penalty and later getting a converted try to trail by just four points. Deep into injury time, Boston repeatedly hammered away at the Old Blue line looking for the go-ahead score. Boston did cross the line, but was held up and time expired with Old Blue winning by a score of 33-29. Old Blue finish the season at 3-4-1, while Boston ends at 1-5-1.

In the late game in Seattle, Old Puget Sound Beach got the better of San Francisco Golden Gate, 19-12 the final score. The score was much closer than their first meeting, and a much lower scoring game than has been the norm in this year’s RSL. These two teams will face off again in the second of the RSL semi finals next week.
