    The USA Women’s Sevens team stormed out of the gates on day one of the Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens tournament, knocking off France by 20 points, but their roll was slowed by the Netherlands and Australia as both teams snuck by the Eagles to leave the USA with a 1-2 record after the first day of play.

    The South Africa Lions rugby team is coming to America to play in three April fixtures. The Lions were relegated from Super Rugby after finishing last season on the bottom of the table and the tour is part of their preparations to make a quick return to the competition.

    Eagles WNT Sevens Side Departs for Dubai

    The USA Women’s Eagle Sevens depart today for Dubai, the first stop in the IRB Women’s Sevens World Series. Head Coach Ric Suggitt has selected 12 women to compete in this inaugural series, which kicks off November 30, 2012.

    Tolkin Names Eagles Side to Face Romania

    Men’s Eagles head coach Mike Tolkin has named the side set to face off against Romania November 24, in the final match of the team’s Fall European Tour. The Eagles have gone 1-1 in the tour thus far, first beating Russia but losing a close match to Tonga.

    France Sneaks By Women's Eagles

    Relentless defense was the name of the game as France was able to sneak past the US, 13-0 at Stade Marcel Garcin. Penalties would be the difference however, with France capitalizing on three Women’s Eagles infractions to seal the game.

    Magleby Names Squad for Dubai, Port Elizabeth Sevens

    USA Men’s Eagle Sevens head coach, Alexander Magleby, has declared the 12-man traveling squad that will take part in the second and third stops of the HSBC Sevens World Series in Dubai (November 30-December 1) and Port Elizabeth, South Africa (December 8-9).

    The USA Women’s Eagles beat Italy 34-20 in the first ever match-up between the two teams. The Eagles started the match strong and held Italy to zero points in the first half.

    The USA Men’s Eagles fell to Tonga 13 – 22 in their second match of the 2012 Fall European Tour. After taking the lead just before half, the Eagles struggled to convert and defend in the last 40 minutes, and gave up two tries to the physical and unrelenting Tonga squad.

    Cal Wins PAC Sevens

    The Golden Bears played a fast and disciplined final to win the PAC Sevens Rugby Tournament on Sunday, beating Utah, 21-12, the North Athletic Field at UCLA. California beat the Bruins in the semifinal earlier in the day on its way to the tourney title.

    Bears Advance to PAC Sevens Semifinal

    California has advanced to the semifinals of the PAC Sevens Rugby Tournament with its 36-0 shutout of Arizona in the quarterfinals to end an arduous day Saturday on UCLA's North Athletic Field. The Golden Bears face the Bruins at 11:20 a.m. in Sunday's semi and the winner faces either Utah or Arizona State in the tourney final, which kicks off at 2 p.m. PT.

    Eagles Depart for Fall European Tour

    The USA Rugby Men’s Eagles squad will depart Sunday, Nov. 4 for a three-week tour in North Wales and Romania. The Eagles are scheduled to play three matches against Russia, Tonga and Romania while overseas, with additional training sessions scattered throughout the tour. The squad will return home on Nov. 25.

    A California roster represented by a majority of freshmen and sophomores heads to Los Angeles this weekend for the Nov. 3-4 PAC Sevens Rugby Tournament at UCLA. The Golden Bears begin Saturday with matches against USC at 9 a.m., Oregon State at 11:20 a.m. and Arizona State at 1:40 p.m. (all times PT).
