The upcoming rugby season is only weeks away and the Rugby Ducks are finalizing their schedule. With high expectations for the 2009-2010 season, the squad isn’t adding any powder-puffs to their schedule. In fact, the team has arranged to face-off with two of North America’s premier programs.

The Rugby Ducks will take on the Sacramento State Hornets on Saturday, October 10th. The match will take place at Riverfront Field in Eugene at 12pm and will be their first overall match of the upcoming campaign. The Hornets were ranked by eRugbyNews.com as an honorable mention in their annual Preseason Ranking Men’s Top 25 D1 Collegiate Rugby. The Hornets compete in what is argua-bly the most competitive collegiate union in the country, the North-ern California Rugby Football Union.

The confident Rugby Ducks will later take on the University of Victoria Vikings of British Colombia on Friday, January 29th. This match will also take place at Riverfront Field in Eugene. The match time is yet to be determined. Rugby is considered one of British Co-lombia’s most popular and competitive sports, and the Vikes will surely prove to be a challenging opponent come January.

These two additions to the UO Rugby home schedule will be highly intense and competitive. The Ducks will look to defend their home turf and expect to see a large turnout of fans and supporters to help to energize the team.
