The powerful Scarlets wing scored two of his team's 12 tries in an 81-7 success as Wales moved closer towards securing a quarter-final place.
And in doing so, he eclipsed former Australian star Joe Roff as the youngest player to claim a World Cup touchdown.
At 19 years and 166 days, North is 87 days younger than when ex-Wallabies wing Roff scored during the 1995 tournament in South Africa.
"Am I?" was North's surprised reaction when told about his achievement at the expense of 86 times-capped Roff.
"I am quite shocked. It is awesome, a giant honour. If I can do that for my country (win 86 caps), I will retire a happy man."
North once again underlined his ability as a devastating finisher and game-breaker, starring off the bench in the second half of a game when Wales scored nine tries and 59 points.
It earned him plaudits from Wales coach Warren Gatland, and confirmed just how big a part he has to play in the tournament as Wales target the quarter-finals and possibly beyond.
"It is always good to go on and get a couple of tries, and at the end of the day, it was a decent win. It showed we are clinical," added North, who has now scored eight tries in 11 Tests for Wales.
"My physicality is one of the key points of my game.
"Every game you play, the more confident you get. The team is going from strength to strength, and hopefully I will grow with it.
"I played openside flanker for a bit in school, then went out to centre, full-back and wing. Anywhere really, as long as I was on the park.
"I am still learning my trade on the wing. The more positions I can play in, the more chance I have got of selection."
Gatland will hope to reunite North and Shane Williams as the wings against Fiji in Hamilton next Sunday, although injury might prevent that as Williams is currently suffering from a quad muscle strain.
For North, though, it is a case of never stopping learning from Wales' record international tryscorer, who has collected 55 Test touchdowns.
"Shane is one of my heroes," he added.
"It's quite weird playing in the same team as him now and training with him.
"His game is different to mine. There is nothing I can give to him to improve his game, but he has plenty to give to me."
