Ospreys tighthead Jones, 31, has been struggling with a knee injury and is doubtful for at least the first of the November games against Argentina.
The loss of the British Lions prop, the anchor of the Welsh scrum for almost a decade, would be a sizeable blow as Wales look to bounce back from their 3-0 series defeat to Australia in the summer.
Wales interim head coach Rob Howley named Jones in his 35-man squad for the games against the Pumas, Samoa, New Zealand and Australia on Monday, but ongoing concerns over his fitness have seen 19-year-old Scarlets prop Samson Lee called in to train with the squad as cover when they head to Poland on Sunday for a pre-series training camp.
Jones will still travel to Spala, where Wales' prepared for their 2011 World Cup campaign, and will have his injury assessed.
His Ospreys colleague Jarvis was also named in Howley's squad. The 26-year-old was the only uncapped player in the initial selection, having impressed for his region while Jones has found his game time limited by his knee problem.
The former Bath forward was born in Exeter but qualifies to represent Wales through a grandmother from Merthyr Tydfil.
And he admits working with Jones has had a major impact on his development, but is backing himself to deliver if called upon should his Ospreys colleague be absent at any stage during November.
"You have to believe in yourself and if I get the opportunity I will be desperate to perform well, I have to do well in training and put my best foot forward first though," he said.
"But Adam has been great to me, he is easy to talk to and willing to help and he has helped with my development a lot and it has made me a better player to be around him."
Jarvis has never played at the Millennium Stadium, but his previous experience of watching Wales with his Welsh father-in-law left a big impression on him.
"I went with my father in law once and the atmosphere was unbelievable. I cannot explain it, it was just a different level, it was buzzing in there.
"It would mean the world to me to be out there, I would be so happy and proud and I will try and enjoy it as much as I can, it would be one of the best days of my life."
