Grindal: Will leave Leicester at the end of the season

The 31-year-old scrum-half is in his second spell with the Tigers having also spent seven years at Newcastle (2002-9).

However, with Ben Youngs, Micky Young and Sam Harrison all competing for the No 9 shirt and the emergence of Scottish youngster Scott Steele, the Tigers have plenty of options.

And that means the 31-year-old Grindal will be looking for a new club at the end of the season.

Cockerill told the Leicester Mercury: "James will not be with us next season. He knows that and is a bit disappointed with that.

"James has a young family and, hopefully, he can get sorted with a new club. You saw on Saturday's evidence that he can still play."
