Smith: Dragons captain returns

Dragons fell to a 36-15 defeat to Bath and have named a strong side as they look to improve after their opening game in this season's LV= Cup.

Tom Prydie steps in at number fifteen, replacing injured Hallam Amos, with captain Ashley Smith reverting back to his usual position at number twelve.

At number ten, Dan Evans starts and he will be alongside Wayne Evans, in his first start for the Dragons after a back injury.

Adam Jones, leuan Jones, Nic Cudd, Hugh Gustafson and Owen Evans retain their spots in the starting line-up.

Saints meanwhile suffered a narrow 30-31 loss to Harlequins at Franklin's Gardens, and Jim Mallinder, director of rugby, knows the tough challenge that awaits his Northampton side.

With the agonisingly close loss to Quins still fresh, Mallinder knows the Saints have plenty to prove this weekend against the Dragons.

The clash will also be back rower Phil Dowson's hundredth in the Saints jersey, after joining the club from Newcastle in 2009.

Kick-off is at 3.15pm.
