Newcastle Falcons have agreed a deal to sign former England Under-20s No 8 Ollie Steadman.
The 21-year-old attracted the attention of Newcastle boss Dean Richards while playing for Tynedale in National One.
And his form has seen him earn a full-time deal at the RFU Championship leaders.
Richards said: "I have watched him a number of times for Tynedale and I have been very impressed with him.
"We have given him a fantastic opportunity here and it will be interesting to see how he fairs at this level.
"He is a good ball carrier, a good footballer and he understands the game."
