Burger: Huge injury blow for Sarries

Aviva Premiership champions Saracens have confirmed that Namibia's World Cup captain will undergo knee surgery this week.

They say he is expected to return to fitness within nine months.

Burger's all-action performances in Saracens colours confirmed him as one of the Premiership's most effective overseas signings.

But his game-time has been limited this season, and he will now sit out the remainder of a campaign that could see Saracens win a domestic and European double.

They are currently second in the Premiership and on course for a home play-off tie, while French club Clermont Auvergne are their Heineken Cup quarter-final opponents next month.
