Bok cited for dangerous tackle

Saracens's Springbok hooker Schalk Brits has been cited for an alleged dangerous tackle in last Sunday's European Cup match against Benetton Treviso.

Brits is under investigation for the challenge on Treviso wing Benjamin de Jager during the first half of the game at Vicarage Road - won 42-17 by the English champions.

The hearing will take place on Wednesday.

The complaint was made by citing commissioner Jean-Etienne Bernard (France).

Rod McKenzie (Scotland) has been appointed as the judicial officer to hear this matter.

Law 10.4 (j) – Lifting a player from the ground and either dropping or driving that player's head and/or upper body into the ground whilst the player's feet are off the ground.

Under the IRB Recommended Sanctions for Offences Committed within the Playing Enclosure, Law 10.4 (j) carries the following penalties: Low End = three weeks; Mid Range - six weeks; Top End = from 10 to 52 weeks.
