Colorado St Rams Prepare for Season

Published: Thursday, 9. February, 2012 in category College Rugby

The Colorado State University Ram Rugby players are preparing for an exciting season.

This spring the Rams will start and end their conference season playing at Glendale's Infinity Park with matches broadcast on Root Sports television, formerly branded Fox Sports Rocky Mountain.

USA Rugby has also doubled down on supporting the top level of college rugby by committing a $ Million $ to the competition over the next 4 years. The competition is in it's second year made up of the top 25 teams in the nation. The competition changed it's name from College Premier Division back to D-1A to eliminate confusion with traditional college sports vernacular.

New Coaching Staff

The team has a new coaching staff for this semester. Nick Anderson is the teams new head coach stepping up from his role as an assistant coach last season and during the fall semester. Nick always brings an upbeat energetic attitude and love for the game that will be contagious to the team under his tutelage. Assisting Nick is Kevin Dombrock. Continuing on with the strong CSU tradition both coaches are alumnus. Coach Anderson is from the class of '09 and Coach Dombrock is from the class of '11 with manager Blake Stevens class of '01.

Coach Anderson played flanker and center as a stalwart starter from 2004-2009 and Coach Dombrock played flanker, fly half, center, wing, and second row from 2007-2011.

The team still has funds available to support a 3rd coach. Contact Coach Nick Anderson at (719) 337-7921 or nickthebrickanderson@hotmail.com if you are interested in coaching the team. The head coach receives $1,000/yr $500/semester and assistant coaches receive $500/yr $250/semester.

A big thanks goes out to Coach Jake Humphrey who coached the team for the fall semester but moved to Denver necessitating his departure from coaching to further his business as an owner of CrossFit Broadway.
