Lomu: Was a guest at New Zealand's win over Japan

The former All Blacks winger, who scored 15 tries in two World Cups, has had long-standing kidney problems and underwent a transplant operation in 2004.

Lomu's wife Nadene told the Herald on Sunday: "All I can say is my husband is stable and until we know exactly what's wrong, we are not prepared to comment".

All Blacks assistant coach Steve Hansen added: "I heard that (he was in hospital) this morning, which is really sad news.

"Our thoughts are with the big fella and hopefully he makes a speedy recovery."
