Lawes: Fined £5,000 for wearing a branded gum shield

Lawes follows skipper Lewis Moody and centre in falling foul of IRB restrictions regarding advertising.

Lawes is believed to have been fined £5,000 for the indiscretion - while Moody had to pay out £4,800 after he was found guilty for wearing the sponsored mouth guard.

It is the second time Lawes has received unwanted headlines in New Zealand - with the Saints star having been disciplined and suspended for kneeing Argentina hooker Mario Ledesma in the opening game.
