Pat Lam: Set for Connacht role, according to reports

Pat Lam is set to be named as the new Connacht coach on Friday, according to reports.

The former Samoa coach is expected to sign a three-year deal to replace Eric Elwood as head coach of the Irish Province.

Lam was dismissed by the Blues after a poor 2012 Super Rugby campaign following four years at the helm of the New Zealand franchise.

The former back-rower was part of Samoa's coaching team as they defeated Wales and Canada, as well as suffering a narrow loss to France, during the November internationals last year.

According to Sports News Ireland, Lam will replace Elwood after Clermont Auvergne coach Alex King rejected the role in favour of joining Northampton Saints.
