New Zealand superstar Dan Carter could be on his way to Toulon next season.
The fly-half, widely regarded as the world's best player, could be a replacement for Jonny Wilkinson, who may retire at the end of the season.
Carter has played in the Top 14 before, but his spell with Perpignan was cut short by injury.
To return to France, he would have to be given a sabbatical by the New Zealand Rugby Union.
The French giants have already confirmed the signing of South Africa wing Bryan Habana for their star-studded squad - and another signing could be Bath scrum-half Michael Claassens.
Bath coach Gary Gold confirmed that the South African has held talks with Toulon.
Gold said. "He's been open and honest with us and he is in talks. I'm sure Michael will tell us as soon as anything can be confirmed.
"Since January we've been allowed to go out and have a look. We've known who is on the market for a while. We've got a few irons in the fire and some potentially exciting prospects coming through."
Claassens arrived at Bath in 2007 from Super Rugby side Cheetahs, and has racked up 117 Aviva Premiership since.
