Scarlets continued their bid for a RaboDirect PRO12 semi-final spot with a 24-10 victory over winless Zebre at the Stadio XXV Aprile in Parma.
Liam Williams, one of three Wales internationals back in the Scarlets starting line-up following their Six Nations success, and Joe Snyman both scored tries, while fly-half Owen Williams contributed the remaining 14 points from four penalties and a conversion.
The win was Scarlets' 12th of the campaign, but it was not enough to keep them in fourth place as rivals Ospreys edged above them after claiming a seven-try triumph over Newport Gwent Dragons in tonight's later kick-off.
Zebre matched Scarlets with two tries of their own through Dries van Schalkwyk and Giovanbattista Venditti but they could not add to those scores as they remained rooted to the foot of the standings following an 18th successive defeat.
The Italian side gave Scarlets a scare in the previous meeting between the two at Parc y Scarlets, leading with seven minutes to go before ultimately losing 22-13, and they also took the lead tonight with Van Schalkwyk's 13th-minute try.
However, a brace of Owen Williams penalties put Scarlets in front before Liam Williams crashed over for a try that left the visitors 11-5 ahead at the break.
Scarlets quickly extended their advantage after the restart with 10 points in the opening seven minutes of the second half, Owen Williams slotting over another penalty before then converting a try from Snyman.
The Scarlets number 10 made it 24-5 with another three-pointer soon after and, although Zebre collected a second try through Italy international Venditti just before the hour, the Welsh side were never in any serious danger of surrendering their lead.
They did lose another of their Wales contingent, Aaron Shingler, to a yellow card with five minutes to go but it mattered little to the result as they had already done enough for the win.
