Career threatening injury to Kings prop

EP Kings prop, Pumlani Nodikida, suffered an career threatening injury in the last match in the Nation Cup against Portugal in Bucharest.

The injury occurred when the scrum collapsed and his C6 vertabra slipped onto the C7 resulting in pressure being put on the spinal cord.

The three organisations namely; the IRB, SARU and EPRU have been working closely together to ensure the best possible care for Nodikida.

On Monday he had a successful operation and has already regained some sensation and movement of his lower limbs. He will continue with his rehab in Romania and once medically declared fit to fly he'll return home to continue further rehabilitation work.

Arthur Dayimani, Kings' team manager, has stayed behind with Nodikida.

In another medical update Andre Schechter who was removed from the field of play because of an irregular heartbeat is currently seeing a specialist to determine the root-cause of the heart palpitations.
