Flamboyant Max Guazzini has declined the position of honorary president of Stade Français, the club which he made great in modern times.

Guazzini, a man who made lots of money through a radio station, had been the president of the club for 19 years, taking it up from third division to one of the top Top 14 sides in France, filling Stade de France for club matches on occasion, making his club's distinctive jerseys popular. Pink was in when it came to Parisian rugby.

But then the club fell on hard times and was in danger of relegation out of professional rugby till Thomas Savare saved the side. In return Savare became the president of the club with Guazzini to be the honorary president.

On Friday Guazzini made it known that he declined the honorary position, saying simply that he was no longer the club's president and instead would become the 'No.1 supporter of Stade Français'.
