Dynamic flank Chris Alcock is determined to make the sky blue No.7 jersey his own after signing on for two more years with the Waratahs.
Alcock has proved to be one of the most improved players of the last two seasons, going from second grader in the Sydney club competition to a regular in the Super Rugby matchday 22.
Along with Pat McCutcheon, Alcock is a front-runner to take over the openside flank role from Phil Waugh who announced his retirement last month.
The Eastwood back row forward said he is happy his future is now settled and that he is looking forward to making an impact in 2012 and beyond.
"There was a bit of interest out there which I haven't really had before, but my preference was always to stay in Sydney," said Alcock.
"The Waratahs gave me an opportunity in 2010 and I feel that since then I've continued to improve as a footballer training alongside guys like Phil [Waugh].
"They showed a lot of faith to keep me in the program and hopefully I can continue to repay that faith for the next couple of years.
"There are a lot of players in the group who think there's unfinished business from the past few years and I believe next year is already looking pretty exciting.
"Personally I know there are a lot of areas in my game I can continue to work on to contribute to the team and I'm looking forward to doing that."
Growing up in Durban before moving to Sydney aged 10, Alcock received his rugby tutelage at St Ives Juniors and Barker College before playing Colts and Grade with Gordon.
In and out of first grade in 2009, Alcock was contracted to the Waratahs and despite playing in the Second Grade Grand Final, his next appearance on the Sydney Football Stadium was his Super Rugby debut against the Cheetahs.
In 2010 Alcock started the season in the Junior Waratahs squad, however by midway through the season he had earned a full-time contract.
Alcock went on to play in twelve of the Waratahs 17 fixtures in 2011, earning much praise for his effort against the Lions before a magnificent solo try against the Brumbies in the final round.
