A Brisbane premier grade player is believed to be in a critical condition after suffering a serious injury during a match on Saturday.
University forward Halley Appleby was taken to hospital after receiving CPR on the field following the incident during the match against GPS at the Yoku Rd ground in Brisbane.
A statement from Queensland Rugby Union on Sunday said Appleby lost consciousness after being tackled during the match and "required immediate medical intervention".
Queensland Rugby doctor Greg Smith was among the medical team that administered CPR before Appleby was taken to Royal Brisbane Hospital by ambulance.
The University club website released its own update on the player's status.
"Halley Appleby is currently in a critical but stable situation at the Royal Brisbane Hospital," the website said.
"At this stage it is too early to confirm the extent of the trauma.
"It is now a waiting game, and our thoughts and prayers are with Halley and the Appleby family."
