Boland bolt out of the blocks

Boland impressed in the first round of provincial First Division matches, running in nine tries as they beat the Border Bulldogs 69-12 in Wellington on Saturday and took an early lead on top of the standings.

The home team had the game in the bag by half-time when they lead 31-12 and played some impressive rugby throughout.

Thanks to this victory, the Cavaliers top the log after the first round this season, followed by the Falcons and defending champions, EP Kings, who both recorded wins in their season openers.

The Kings were too good for South Western District Eagles in a hard fought match in Port Elizabeth on Friday evening, where both teams could only score one try each, winning 28-20 after leading 16-11 at the break.

After 40 minutes in Kempton Park, the Falcons lead 17-10, but even though the Griffons scored two late tries, it wasn't enough and the East Randers won 38-27 in a match that yielded 10 tries.
