Springboks back up to No.2

The Springboks have moved up to No.2 in the latest IRB world rankings thanks to Samoa's 32-23 victory over Australia last weekend.

The shock defeat has pulled the Wallabies down into their position days before they tackle the Boks in the Opening match of the Tri-Nations in Sydney.

Samoa haven't moved up from their current position in tenth place in the rankings, and the IRB have indicated that had it not been for the victory over Australia, Samoa would have fallen to twelfth place after finishing last in the recent Pacific Nations Cup tournament.

New Zealand remain the best ranking team in the world with an increased margin of 6.75 ranking points.

Pacific Nations Cup champions Japan climbed to its highest-ever ranking of 11th.
