Catrakilis gets his big break

Western Province will take on the Leopards in Potchefstroom with a new halfback combination as Dewaldt Duvenage makes a return from injury while Demetri Catrakilis gets his chance to pull on the injury-cursed No.10 jersey.

After promising young playmaker Gary van Aswegen became the latest flyhalf from the Cape outfit to be struck down by injury when he tore his medial knee ligament in the 26-26 draw with Griquas at Newlands last weekend, Catrakilis gets his big opportunity to impress.

Duvenage, who has been named as the side's vice captain for the Currie Cup campaign, will provide some welcome experience in a youthful Western Province backline and will look to guide Catrakilis through his first start in the Currie Cup.

Catrakilis played a starring role for the University of Cape Town in their triumphant Varsity Cup campaign earlier this year and he will be out to show that he can produce the same form at Currie Cup level in Potchefstroom on Friday night.

The only other change from the starting XV that did duty against Griquas last week is the inclusion of flank Rohan Kitshoff who comes off the bench to replace Wimpie van der Walt.
