The BoysÂ’ High School All-Americans (HSAAs) takes on Glenwood High School in the second game of their four-match South African tour on Saturday at 15.15.
The HSAAs consist of 30 of the best American High School players, selected on the basis of their performances in domestic US rugby competitions. The goal of the programme, which incorporates this tour, is to improve skills and prepare players for the next level with the hope that some players will eventually go on to represent the USA at senior level.
Glenwood should prove to be the Americans’ most difficult opponents on African soil. Although the home team are resting a number of key players, they still have a useful starting line-up which includes the likes of SA Academy scrumhalf Mkhabela, Craven Week prop Worral-Clare and a formidable No.8 in the shape of the fit again Wayne Dalton.
The HSAAs opening game was against a KwaZulu Natal development team. From Durban, the team will travel to Cape Town to face Tygerberg Rugby Club and end their tour with a match against Durbanville High School.
