Wallaby ace Berrick Barnes has successfully completed 80 minutes in his comeback to the game, playing for Sydney University in their 62-7 demolition of Penrith at University Oval on Saturday.

The Waratahs and Wallaby playmaker scored one of University's 10 tries and tallied a personal haul of 15 points in a strong display.

Barnes had been suffering from "athletes migraines" - the after affects of a series of concussion incidents in the game - and was told to stay away from the field for a while.

However, on Saturday the 25-year-old Barnes took the first steps towards a possible comeback into World Cup contention.

"I was really keen before the match and just wanted to get out there and perform well," Barnes told the Sydney Morning Herald.

"It's great to be playing again, it's been a long time coming, so it was good to blow away some of the cobwebs. I still felt a bit rusty, but that comes with the territory."
