Wilbur Hendricks - Captain of Asherville

Saturday's Spandau versus Asherville FNB Classic Clash should be a tough encounter. However, Asherville captain Wilbur Hendricks is backing his charges to keep their defensive line intact and emerge victorious.

"My guys are really positive and feeling good ahead of tomorrow," he told classicclashes.co.za.

"I won't lie... everyone is pretty excited - in fact, I know a lot of the guys have had trouble sleeping this week," added Wilbur.

"But I've got a lot of faith in my teammates and it will take a lot to breach our defence on Saturday."

Wilbur played on the wing in last year's FNB Classic Clash, but he is at his happiest at centre - a position he enjoys; a lot.

"I like to straighten the line and to off-load in the tackle," said Hendricks, whose rugby hero - rather unsurprisingly one might add - is All Blacks star Ma'a Nonu.

Last year was a disappointing one for Asherville.

However, according to their captain all those "little errors" from 2010 have been rectified.

Said Wilbur: "From the first game of the year... we've kept improving and showing how much we learnt last year.

"The key is to do those little things right. I think we've been doing just that this year... hopefully that will allow us to reach our goals - something I'm very confident we will achieve this weekend."

Wilbur Hendricks, who is 18 years old, tips the scales at 79 kilograms and stands 1,78 metres tall.

He is a proud leader of the Asherville First XV.
