Namesake played namesake in Bloemfontein on Saturday when Grey High came up from Port Elizabeth to Bloemfontein to play Grey College. A great number of teams and sports makes the journey but it is the 1st XV result that counts above all, and this time the home team enjoyed a huge 69-21 victory after leading 38-7 at half-time.

The home side scored 11 tries to three. Right wing François Pretorius scored three tries and the captain Dries Swanepoel two. The home side's centres, Swanepoel and Jan Serfontein, who hails from Port Elizabeth and was at school with several of the visitors, were outstanding and the score could well have been even higher were it not for handling errors. They also lost SA Schools wing Ruwellyn Isbell early in the match to a shoulder injury.

For the visitors captain Michael Willemse was outstanding.
