Union High captain Cwenga Mbinda cannot contain his excitement ahead of the FNB Classic Clash against local rivals Hoër Volkskool Graaff-Reinet this Saturday.

Even though it is his second Classic Clashes fixture, the 1,75-metre flanker feels that he is being caught up in all the excitement building up towards the game.

"The excitement has everyone buzzing ahead of the game.

"The players can feel it and the whole school is just psyched for this Interschools game," Mbinda said.

Union High have the psychological advantage going into the clash, having won last year's fixture 25-15. But the skipper of the side is wary of underestimating their rivals this season.

"We've had a good season so far, even though we just managed to win our last game.

"We've had some good preparation for the upcoming match but HVS will be up for the game too," Mbinda told classicclashes.co.za.

Having caught the rugby bug from his dad, the 17-year-old flanker is keen to continue playing rugby after school.

As for any star influences on his game at present?

It's the 'Incredible' Schalk Burger that Mbinda cites as his rugby hero.

"He leads from the front, which is something that I've always strived to do," he explained.
