The Leopards won the Battle of the Basement in the 2011 Absa Currie Cup when they recorded a 27-15 win over the Pumas at Olën Park in Potchefstroom on Friday evening.

The home side, like the Pumas, winless before this clash, led 24-12 at half-time - as both sides could muster just three points each in the second half.

Both sides scored all their tries in the first 40 minutes, with winger Danie Demas, flanker Luvuyiso Lusaseni and fullback George Tossel crossing for the hosts.

For the Pumas, Deon Scholtz (wing) and replacement Dewald Pretorius scored tries, but the boot of first-time starter Wesley Dunlop helped keep the Leopards' noses in front throughout.

Flyhalf Dunlop, who led Tuks to the 2011 Varsity Cup Final, kicked all three his team's conversions and also slotted two penalty goals for a personal tally of 12 points on the night.
