As of October 2011, Alan Zondagh's highly-acclaimed Rugby Performance Centre (RPC) will become a private training campus for rugby and sports groups.

The RPC, located in the scenic Riebeek Valley of the Western Cape, hosts an Under-20 Rugby Academy with the aim of preparing young, talented rugby players for the challenges of the professional game in South Africa and abroad.

For seven years under Performance Director Alan Zondagh, the RPC's qualified and committed staff have trained up to 50 young men per year, with a number of graduates going on to play Super 15, Currie Cup, Vodacom Cup, Varsity Cup, Springbok Sevens and professional rugby in Europe's top competitions.

Current SA Sevens captain Kyle Brown is a recent graduate from Zondagh's RPC, having gone on to play Varsity Cup, provincial Under-21 rugby and, finally, representing his country at Sevens.

The RPC has also built a solid reputation for providing coaching and training camps for professional, age-grade, club, university and school sides from South Africa and overseas. In just seven months of 2011, the RPC has hosted 1,500 visitors, and more camps are scheduled for later this year.

Due to the financial challenges of running a rugby academy, the RPC will cease to operate its U20 programme and will, instead, focus exclusively on rugby and sports camps.

From his office at the RPC Campus, an excited Zondagh expressed optimism about the future, saying: "We at the RPC are very pleased about making the complete transition from the U20 Rugby Academy to concentrating all our efforts on the rugby and sports groups.

"The past seven years have been very rewarding, and my staff and I take great pride in the knowledge that we have helped produce a number of outstanding rugby players who are now playing at high levels.

"While the RPC camps specialise in rugby, we can also accommodate other sports teams such as soccer, cricket, netball and hockey. Interested parties should contact the RPC to discuss their future training camp."

Alan Zondagh is a former Western Province, Eastern Province, London Scottish and London Saracens coach. Zondagh was also a consultant to Jake White leading up to the 2007 Rugby World Cup.
