Div: Dishonourable not to pick Brussow

Springbok coach Peter de Villiers is delighted to once again have Heinrich Brussow available for selection amide a loose forward crisis at the Springboks.

Before Brussow, Ryan Kankowski and Ashley Johnson were called up, the only fit back row in the squad was Jean Deysel.

"If we look at the list [of injured loose forwards] then we should start worrying," De Villiers said.

"I'm more worried about the game time that the guys need (before the World Cup), more than anything else.

"Almost all of them haven't played now for six or seven weeks, so that is the biggest worry.

"But we'll give them the time that they need to heal."

Brussow came through a 25 minute cameo for the Cheetahs against Western Province and made an immediate impact on the game.

However, the 25-year-old has not played a full game of rugby for some time.

"He [Brussow] showed us that he's a quality player and it will be a gross dishonour for the game if you go to the World Cup without a player with his abilities," he said.

De Villiers was confident they could overcome their problems, insisting that all the issues - injuries, fitness, and lack of game time and continuity - were part of their planning process.

"We took all those kind of things into consideration," he said.

"For us at this moment, we don't want to get too far ahead of reality.

"We know that the first 20 minutes [of Saturday's Test] will be a bit of touch and go, trying to find each other again.

"But we're confident that they will come through nicely. We've planned for everything that's possible."
