Murray injury forces Mitchell's hand

Golden Lions coach John Mitchell has made one change and two positional switches to the starting line-up of his unbeaten team for Saturday's Currie Cup match against the Cheetahs in Johannesburg.

With outside centre Waylon Murray being ruled out of rugby for the rest of the year with a knee injury, wing Lionel Mapoe was selected to wear the No.13 jersey with fullback Michael Killian reverting back to wing.

Killian's place in the last line of defence will be filled by Jaco Taute who started from the bench in last week's impressive 36-27 victory against the Blue Bulls.

The forward pack which performed so well at Loftus Versveld last week remains intact as the Johannesburg-based side seek to make it five wins on the trot and protect their lead at the top of the standings.

On the team's list of replacements, Johan Snyman was selected to start ahead of Michael Rhodes who has been taken to task for receiving a yellow card at Loftus Versfeld.

Lions: 15 Jaco Taute, 14 Deon van Rensburg, 13 Lionel Mapoe, 12 Alwyn Hollenbach, 11 Michael Killian, 10 Elton Jantjies, 9 Michael Bondesio, 8 Joshua Strauss (captain), 7 Derick Minnie, 6 Cobus Grobbelaar, 5 Franco van der Merwe, 4 Wikus van Heerden, 3 Jacobie Adriaanse, 2 Bandise Maku, 1 JC Janse van Rensburg.
