Sometimes, doing something the second time around yields a positive result.

That's what the captain of Hoërskool Diamantveld, Andre Roberts, hopes he can achieve when he takes to the field against Hoërskool Noordkaap in their FNB Classic Clashes game this Saturday.

After being on the losing side in last year's corresponding fixture, the 17-year-old flank, is looking to end his last derby match with a win.

"We've had some good training sessions for the game.

"At this point, everybody knows what to do and that takes a lot of pressure off me on the day," the flanker said.

Roberts will also be looking to put the experience he gained playing for the Griqualand West Academy side to good use against Noordkaap.

Andre, though is not the only rugby-playing Roberts in his family. The matric student says that he has taken some inspiration from his older brother, who played Varsity Cup-level rugby for the Shimlas.

The flanker also cites Springbok stars Pier Spies and Ryan Kankowski as his rugby heroes, saying that he has modelled his playing style on that of Kankowski's; he of Springbok and Sharks fame.

Once he completes school, Roberts told classicclashes.co.za that he has his eye set on doing electrical engineering.
