Jaco Buys - Captain of Noordkaap

Defending his side's unbeaten run is all that matters to the captain of Hoƫrskool Noordkaap, Jaco Buys, when his side squares up against local rivals Hoerskool Diamantveld in their FNB Classic Clashes match on Saturday.

The 18-year-old feels that because his side is unbeaten they have a lot more to lose in this match than Diamantveld.

"It's a big match and because we are unbeaten we have alot more to lose than DHS," the eighthman told classicclashes.co.za.

"We're not going to do anything fancy for the match - just do the basics well. It's served us well so far," Buys added.

The Noordkaap skipper is raring to play in the match, as he watched from the bench as his side triumphed 21-12 in last year's fixture.

Whilst Buys admits that there is some pressure going into the match, the six-foot tall matric student is no stranger to it, having captained Griqualand West at the 2011 Craven Week.

As for the future, the Hoërskool Noordkaap skipper wants to study mechanical engineering at Northwest University once he completes school - a move which will, no doubt, give him the option of playing Varsity Cup rugby - either at Under-20 or senior level in the future.
