Percy Williams - Captain of Oudtshoorn

After breaking a 17-year losing streak against their bitter rivals last year, the captain of Hoërskool Oudtshoorn, Percy Williams, is eager to see his side get another victory over Hoërskool Outeniqua when the two sides meet in their FNB Classic Clashes match this Saturday.

Williams, though, admits that a victory might be a slightly tougher task to achieve this year.

"We have a number of injuries to key players, but the boys coming into the side will just have to up their game.

"We're going into the game as underdogs, but we aren't going to just hand the victory to Outeniqua," the 18-year-old matric student warned.

Despite the injuries, the little scrumhalf has been buoyed by the support that the team has received from their schoolmates ahead of the game.

"The support ahead of the game has been outstanding. Everyone at school is gearing up for an epic clash on Saturday," Williams told classicclashes.co.za.

Williams has been playing rugby since he was six and while he tasted action as a hooker and a flank, he says that it is at scrumhalf that he has found his niche.

His rugby hero? Australia's Will Genia.

"Will Genia is just unpredictable," he enthused.

"The things he does are so unexpected. While I am modelling my game on his, I am just concentrating on doing the basics well."

With him having donned the South Western Districts Eagles' jersey at the 2011 Craven Week, Williams's pedigree has shone through as he has signed to play for the Johannesburg-based Golden Lions franchise.

The scrumhalf, though, is not the only Williams to have shone at rugby. His older brother was also a SWD Craven Week star.
