Glenwood go up -by the busload from Durban over the Berg to Bloemfontein to play mighty Grey College. It should be an interesting contest between two of South Africa's top schools.
Year in and year out, they are top schools. Currently Grey are top of the FNB Top 20, Glenwood ninth.
Sadly neither side will be at fill strength. Some have national commitments.
Glenwood scrumhalf Mtokosizi Mkhabela is in the SA Academy side playing France in Durban.
A decree also went out that suggested that SA Schools players should not play this week because they are playing France next week. The principle of weakening teams seems entrenched in rugby. The school season ends this month but, as happened last year, there are international matches within the season.
Of the SA Schools team Dries Swanepoel and Leneve Damens of Grey and Siyabonga Tom of Glenwood will play this Saturday but Jan Serfontein, Nhlanhla Hlongwane and Ruwellyn Isbell of Grey will not.
Next week Grey play Paul Roos.
In all 25 Glenwood rugby teams will play 25 Grey rugby teams - a great day for all. Apart from the rugby, there is hockey, soccer, golf, tennis, table tennis, squash, crosscountry, cycling, debating and chess.
Take your hat off to schools that enable such festivities. Hats off to enthusiastic schoolmasters!
