Forgotten All Blacks lock Jason Eaton is a free agent and without a Super Rugby contract for 2012.

Eaton on Saturday dismissed reports that he will join the seven-time champion the Crusaders, with the former Hurricanes second row forward revealing that he is still looking for a team to play for.

Eaton was informed by Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett at the start of the NPC season that he would not be required by the Wellington-based side for next season.

A long injury break due to a knee reconstruction has interrupted the promising forward’s career, playing the last of his 15 Test matches against Wales in 2009.

Speaking to the Taranaki Daily News, Eaton said that he still wanted to remain in New Zealand.

"At the moment I'll be playing for Stratford [his club]," he said.

"I'm looking at different avenues because I want to keep playing in New Zealand and play for a franchise. At the moment I'll take any one of them.

"I've still got huge goals within New Zealand rugby and I still think I can achieve them, (but) things aren't working out as I'd planned."
