Bosch do the double over SACS

Rondebosch BoysÂ’ High School beat the South African College High School (SACS) for the second time this season, scoring a hard-fought 10-5 win on a cold but clear morning in Newlands.

SACS dominated the first half in terms of territory and possession and effectively lost the game by not capitalising fully on this dominance. SACS got ahead early as lively wing Joshua Jacobsen pounced on a loose ball and raced clear to score. SACS missed the conversion and two penalties as well as numerous other chances to score. One in particular cost SACS dearly when Jacobsen slipped with the line at his mercy. SACS went into half-time 5-nil.

The second half saw the Rondebosch pack assert themselves as the visitors took control of the game. The Bosch pack hammered SACS at scrum time and at the breakdown. With the SACS line-out also wobbly the home team were unable to get out of their own half and it was only going to be a matter of time before the pressure told.

Rondebosch drew level after a line-out drive, which saw No.8 Scott Albertyn crash over. SACS defended manfully but the pressure eventually told and Rondebosch wing Giovanni Hofmeyr exploited a mismatch and some poor tackling to score and put Rondebosch into the lead.

Rondebosch kicked well out of hand and showed excellent game management to keep SACS pinned in the half for the last quarter and close out a deserved double of their local southern suburb rivals.
