Selborne College marched down the coast from East London to play Grey in an FNB Classic Clash. They had an uncomfortable 29-21 win.

The culmination of the rugby season at the Grey took place on the Pollock Field on Saturday as the 1st XV took on a highly rated Selborne in cold and extremely windy conditions.

Having lost the toss Grey played with the wind at their backs in the first half, and matched the massive pack of the their visitors at both line-outs and scrums. Both sides were guilty of unforced errors and poor discipline at the breakdown allowed the respective goalkickers to open their accounts, Grey leading 6-3 after 30 minutes. Selborne mounted an attack after turning over possession at the restart. Grey repelled wave after wave of attack before being awarded a penalty, which was overturned by the referee. Selborne scored in the corner from close range, taking an 8-6 lead at the break.

With the wind at their backs Selborne began to dominate proceedings, erasing an early Grey try to lead 22-11 after two well worked tries.  Grey narrowed the gap with two unconverted tries of their own, before Selborne crashed over under the posts to seal their victory by 29 points to 21.
