Grey's second half wins it

Glenwood went over the Berg to Grey College in Bloemfontein and lost a brave encounter 28-6 on Saturday. The change in the second half came when SA Schools centre Jan Serfontein teetered the fray.

A decree had gone out from SARU that SA Schools players were not to play for their schools on the Saturday before SA Schools played France in Port Elizabeth. Many did play, including Dries Swanepoel, the Grey captain. Serfontein was not down to play but came on in the second half and made a huge difference, breaking on the first three occasions he got the ball.

Glenwood certainly did not stand back for the magnificent Grey side. In particular centre Dean Moolman and eighthman Carel Swart stood out. And then they had their new flyhalf Warren Potgieter who played for the Valke at Craven Week when he was at EG Jansen. But was the second-half centre pairing of Swanepoel and Serfontein that made the difference., Swanepoel scored twice and a break by lively hooker Jacques du Toit set up a try for François Pretorius who received a brilliant pass from Serfontein.

Glenwood's season is now over but Grey have one more left - their annual match with Paul Roos, this time in Stellenbosch.
