Kwaggas gallop home

On Kwaggadag in George the home side, Hoërskool Outeniqua, beat visitors, Hoërskool Oudtshoorn, 37-10 in an FNB Classic Clash. The size of the victory was certainly not expected.

Last year Oudtshoorn won, a huge shock for the Kwaggas who were easily favourites. That brought extra tension into this match and Outeniqua had the advantage of striking first when fullback Sylvain Manuza scored a try after about six minutes. This rocked the Struisies.

The foundation for the Kwagga victory was laid by their forwards. They were on top in line-outs, and scrums and then above all at the breakdown where they won several turnovers. The domination of the Outeniqua pack nullified their backs who, with SA Schools scrumhalf Percy Williams's to spark them, were expected to have the beating of the home side's backs.

For the Kwaggas their Craven Week duo, centre Tertius Kruger and eighthman Christopher Richardson had greatly influential games. Then there was the boot of Craven Week flyhalf Du Toit Hills to keep the scoreboard stretching away from the Struisies.
