Simphiwe Myira - Captain of Cambridge High

The captain of Cambridge High School, Simphiwe Myira, is confident that he can lead his side to victory when his takes to the field against rivals Hudson Park in their FNB Classic Clash this Saturday.

Myira is a veteran of three previous encounters, though the last he one, he does concede, isn't a match that he would remember with fond memories. Cambridge lost that encounter 52-7.

The young flank though is confident that his side can get the better of his opponents this time round.

"We're fully focused on the match, as it's the last match that many of us (matric students) will be playing. Our preparation has been hard, and at times difficult, but we are confident that we can pull off a win this weekend," the captain told classiclashes.co.za.

Myira has been playing rugby since Grade 2 when his teacher, Mrs Viljoen (as he fondly recalls), introduced him to the sport. The scrumhalf has been hooked on the game ever since. His talent has also been rewarded with a call up to the Border Under-18 Academy side in 2010.

While the matric student does consider himself as a rugby player he also indulges in a bit of soccer for the school as well. "I'm a winger," he says proudly. "And I'm fairly good too," the 19-year old quipped.

Myira wants to study sports management at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University when he completes school and also wants to go on and possibly play Varsity Cup for the Madibaz.
